Learn the skills you need to manage perfectionism, enhance your emotional well-being, and maintain long-term freedom from pain and struggle.
“This is one of the glorious things about the mother-goddess religions, where the world is the body of the Goddess, divine in itself, and divinity isn’t something ruling over and above a fallen nature.”
– Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth [1]
As a trauma-focused therapist, do you feel some vital piece may be missing from your practice? Although more traditional treatments that address healing developmental trauma in adults have their value, would your practice benefit from the power and wisdom of the Divine Feminine?
If you are like most therapists, you have spent years training in trauma-focused modalities that you can incorporate into your therapy practice. However, most of these modalities do not directly address healing the mother wound, that is, helping clients recover from childhood experiences where they felt invalidated, dismissed, or unimportant. Although mother wounds can apply to any system of care giving we receive as children, being told to get over it, toughen up, or deny our sense of self can negatively affect us as adults.
Our capacity to heal and prevent further cycles of trauma from occurring in the next generation can be heightened by connecting with the Divine Feminine. Although accessing the powerful and healing feminine energy within us can have transformative effects on our well-being, the Divine Feminine is often ignored, hidden, or undervalued in our patriarchal society. Rather than honoring the strength of self-acceptance, creativity, and healing through connection with source, our culture often depicts these qualities as “weak” or not meaningful. Ignoring the Divine Feminine can lead to disconnection and imbalance, not just within ourselves but in society at large.
This one-of-a-kind training for therapists blends the fundamentals of childhood developmental trauma with mother wound theory. We will closely examine what the mother wound is and discover how it manifests in our lives and attachment styles. Additionally, this childhood trauma training explores the larger systemic and cultural problems—in particular, patriarchy and oppression—related to the female experience in mothering. The Divine Feminine is incorporated as a tool to heal the mother wound and counter the systemic disconnection from spiritual love and sovereignty that so many of us experience.
Licensed counselors Sharla Mize and Jenna Longmire have developed Celestial Mother and Psychology: Healing Childhood Developmental Trauma as a training for therapists curious about the mother wound and its ongoing impact on individuals, generations, and the planet. In this daylong course, we will:
By offering this innovative training workshop that integrates the Divine Feminine and healing of the mother wound into more traditional trauma-focused therapy, we hope to expand your practice beyond its traditional parameters. Stripping away the patriarchal paradigm that dominates the conversations we have about trauma and tapping into the healing power of the Divine Feminine can be transformative, not only for your clients but for you as an individual.
Many therapists could also benefit directly from working on their own childhood wounds. Training for therapists that focuses on recognizing and working through past trauma allows you to heal yourself before moving on to helping clients. If you are interested, we can continue to work with you in ongoing group sessions that will meet regularly after the trauma training for counselors.
